This makes me so sad. You guys all sound like you came out of Slytherin – it’s like a room full of Malfoys taunting Harry. Who cares about Twilight? If you like it, then you like it. If you don’t, then you don’t. Both are within your rights – it’s a free world, but what does it have to do with Harry Potter? I just get so sick and tired of hearing about Twilight-this or Twilight-that on HP boards.
There are children starving in Africa. Women being beaten by their husbands. People dying of diseases that we should be trying to cure. And this is what you spend your time worrying about. Perspective, people. Perspective.
I don’t think u can accuse people of not caring about children In extreme poverty or anything, just because we took a few mins to have our opinion known.
Seriously? Go cure the disease then. I’m guessing the people on this forum all have PhDs and are just wasting their valuable brain power sitting on this forum all day not doing their job of curing the worlds diseases. Perspective, idiot. Perspective.

Twilight is nothing but pure rubbish. Like others have already said Harry Potter the boy who lived saved a whole life style he saved the world…Bella… couldn’t even save herself FROM herself when things got bad for harry he sucked it up and did what he had to do to save everyone to do the things that he had to do. when things got bad for Bella she ran to another man *cough* boy and tried to get with him before jumping off a cliff…how the hell does this shit get compared?!?! Harry Potter is an amazing series book and movie wise it tells a story that sucks you in and makes you believe…twilight…lets just say that it is the most annoying readable watchable thing out there. my friends tried to take me to see the movie breaking dawn i watched the credits then left when the movie started to watch Puss In Boots that movie has it better then twilight. again just saying no comparison who ever started this twilight vs harry potter needs to be slapped because its hands down harry potter.
I just went to see breaking Dawn and I must say that it’s a massive improvement. Better acting better spesh fx more depth better plot, less mushy, and more realistic ( Edward actually got angry at Bella)

Just… let us do what we want and you do what you want. One’s freedom ends where the other one’s starts. And you’re such a hypocrite when you say ‘no one should like these movies even if this is a free world’ or something. If this is a free world, everyone can do whatever he likes, if he’s not bothering the others. Who do we bother when we discuss these things between us, huh?

ok, come on guys. I think the twilight movies are great, but when you compare the books, Meyer’s got NOTHING on Rowling. In the Harry Potter series, there are detailed discriptions, phenomenol characterization, charachters, and great story line/plot, and the emotions and tensions hold you from page to page. Twilight movies are (again) breathtaking, but the storys are lame. The only that kept me reading was the story line. But other then that, the books lacked precense, pizazz, and details/description. Basically, Meyer was lucky that teenage girls love reading about a girl like them that falls in love with a vampire. Honestly , would you rather read how a boy grows up, destined to face death and kill horcruxes along the way, or a girl that falls in love with a sparkly vampire, marries at 18, then gets pregnant? MY answer is VERY clear.
I know that everyone is entitled to their own opinions but for those of you who say you love twilight but have nothing to back up that statement I have a few questions for you?
Have you ever been to a new school and meet complete strangers to be friends? Have you found something that you excel at that makes you feel on top of the world? Have you ever experienced the butterflies at your first school dance? Have you ever felt the stress of studying for the ACT or the SAT? Was there ever that one teacher you prayed would get fired? Have you ever been involved in something that rebelled against common society? Have you taken the drivers ed course and felt a little afraid that you wouldn’t pass? Have you ever made decisions that define who you are as a person?
For having a “relatable” character in Bella Swan, Twilight fans just don’t get any of these experiences in the book that we get in Harry Potter.
Harry had to go to a new school with no prior knowledge of what it would be like and made friends with 2 people from totally different walks of life. Harry wasn’t great at magic at first but when he discovered quidditch he felt elite for the first time. At the Yule ball Harry, Ron and Hermione experienced an emotional roller coaster with their feelings all over the place. The 5th years had to struggle to get ready for the OWLs. Professor Umbridge is the model of that one teacher we all hate or hated. All of us have our own way of rebelling like Dumbledore’s Army. Learning to apperate and learning to drive always brought out the worst or best in the characters and us. Harry, just like us had to make choices, big or small and acts as a model for doing the right thing.
I know there are much more in depth themes but without these relatable aspects of the book, we wouldn’t be able to find a character that we could see a bit of ourselves in. Harry Potter has grown up with me from when my mom read the first book to me (she had a great Hagrid voice) to when I had my eyes glued to the final book that long night I spent reading. How many Twilight fans can say that?
I REALLY AGREE WITH YOU. Here’s somethng to support your ideas. Twilight is actually for teenagers and has less suitable things than Harry Potter.
Meaning,Harry Potter books are more popular and more widely read than Harry Potter.
Plus, not only the book but the movie’s fame is MUCH more bigger than the Twilight. For example, if a new Harry Potter movies come out in the theater,
it is all over the theater in a poster, internet, TV, and so on. Plus, out of these people who wrote comments, there are actually more people thinking
that ‘Harry Potter is better than Twilight movies.’ Also, Harry Potter actually got more prizes than Twilight. People, why not just stand up, grab a Harry
Potter book and read THE MOST AWSOME, COOL, AMAZING BOOK HARRY POTTER one more time, comparing with the Twilight books rather than just saying that Twilight

The twilight films are quite arty and visually good, but the harry potter films are stunning. If you look at it the twilight saga could be viewed as: a girl who has always been responsible is made to do something out of the ordinary, move to forks. A place full of unfamiliarity, then she finds a person who ( in the book) is fit, funny, kind, generous, polite, and generally lovely. It’s about his battle with himself and how he fights against his animalistic side to feel human. It’s about trust, and friendship and love and family ( just the first book can’t b bothered to do the rest). Both series can be made to look bad but actually both are good
Harry Potter all the way. It actually has a plot, and a little something called, I don’t know, ADVENTURE. Bella irritated me as the series went on. I was falling asleep while reading. Meanwhile, in HP, his friends are more involved and they have meaning. They’re with him all the way although they tend to go through the ups and downs. JK’s writing is amazing. She’s my idol.
I agree fully with Stephen King, I read a few of his books and he is a very popular author. Hermoine is a strong, hard working, intelligent and couragous girl. Ron may not be the most good looking of men, but he loves Hermoine and has great personality. Their relationship started out as friends and even though I’m not exactly a fan of Emma Watson, Hermonine is a great role model. Bella on the other hand is just desperate. Shes risking her life just to be with some hansome vampire who she barely even knew anything about at first. Young girls these days think that the answer to life’s problems is by having a boyfriend. They think that they need to wear make-up and wear tight shirts and incredibly short shorts just to get the attention of boys. The twilight lovers in my school would, if they had the choice, get work done on their brests and think that looks matter. I know it’s not all twilight fans but movies have a massive affect on teenagers today.

The twilight books are okay, the movies are ridiculously stupid, and Harry Potter is one of the most popular movie franchises of ALL TIME, not to mention the books and movies got better each year. Harry Potter shaped the childhood of many individuals including me but Twilight has only made people laugh because of its stupidity.

“Mrs.” Zabini; are you more than twelve years old? My God, woman, you have set the English language back 600 years. I assume “blaise” is a character from one of these movies. While not a fan of either, and having made it through only the first Potter movie, I must still applaud Mrs. Rowling on the success of her series. However, I’m sure that she would be pleased if her readers took away from her books some sense of properly executed English grammer, spelling, etc. If your post is the best you have to offer, your argument is INVALID!

Harry Potter is not like that it has a lesson “Any type of dark force will be nothing before love” which is what my family and me believe. God is also achieved by love. What the hell does Twilight have. In twilight the love between Bella and Edward is not called love. She only likes him because he looks really good. In Harry Potter when Lily Potter sacrifices her life for her son Harry Potter. Seriously a half-vampire half-human child. That sounds really stupid. Harry Potter will be the best and always. Dumbledore, Harry, Hermione, Mr and Mrs. Weasley, Luna, Ron, Neville, Ginny etc. are awesome people. Not Edward, Bella, Alice, Jacob, etc. are not
I’ve read both Harry Potter and Twilight. I do think Harry Potter is better because JK Rowling is a very brilliant, imaginative and creative author who knows how to craft a great story with all the details. Take a look at this: Harry is participates in EVERYTHING. He fights the battle. He sees what happens in DETAIL. But in Twilight, Bella is kept out of the supposed-to-be thrilling parts, out of the climax itself! In Twilight, Bella is kept out of the part when Edward had to fight James – she was unconscious! In New Moon, yeah there’s a little improvement because she did go to the Volturi but still there was very little thrill compared to Harry fighting a basilisk. In Eclipse Bella is taken away when the fight against the newborn vamps so she can’t tell us what’s happening. In Breaking Dawn – and this is the worst – they worry for a month and NOTHING HAPPENS. They prepare for a battle and no battle happens and they all walk away calmly. In Deathly Hallows, they prepare for a battle and a battle happens and is narrated by Rowling vividly. It made me think that Stephenie Meyer didn’t have enough imagination to picture a battle and write about it well. JK Rowling, on the other hand, was so good at it.
Honestly, there is no competition. Yes, Twilight is Twilight and is romance and HP is HP and is a different sort of literature. HP has everything! Fantasy, romance, suspense, action in one story! And if you do look at how well the story is crafted and how well the books are written, ROWLING IS THE BEST.
Also, take a look at the characters. Edward is a Gary Sue while HP is full of well-rounded characters who are three dimensional.

Twilight will never compare to HP. Bella is such a shallow character and Hermione is an intelligent, well-rounded person as much as Harry and Ron. Snape was probably the bravest character in that series if you watched the last movie (he should win at least an award for his role) and Ralph Fiennes did a magnificent job as Lord Voldemort. So did Helena Bonham Carter.Twilight just doesn’t have the quality of Harry Potter. And ya know, some of us forget Robert Pattinson (a.k.a Edward) started out on HP as Cedric.
I hardly could trust anyone on Earth would like HP & Twilight at the same time, or he must suffers from a severe degree of split personality disorder. Twilight is simply about getting laid, or double dipping in a relationship triangle.

he doesn’t find out in PoA nor any other movie/book so unless hermione tells him during their married life he never finds out
In the third book, when Harry, Ron and Hermione are in the hospital wing, Ron wakes up and asks what has been going on while he was unconscious. Hermione tells him then, it just doesnt go into detail about it

Every character has been thought of and been made up unlike sterphenie meyer who bases bella on her self. The brown hair and brown eyes with pale skin. The story off harry potter is perfectly put together every dramatic event down to every small detail has been perfectly wrighten to fit the ending of the sequel. Twilight is a story what as well no story to it. It is simply about a girl and her boyfriend , it is merely a romantic story written for women with no romance in there lives.

okay i love harry potter movies great books greater. i love twilight too but the movie are horrible and give a bad rep to the books. obviously stephen king has never read the books. any who has would understand that twilight isn’t about vampires that sparkle or love triangles it about pure love. and the fact the even if bella doesn’t want to be if edward he’s fine by that because her happiness is all that matters. and bella is stuck between these two amazing guys who both care and love her. I have to admit that I love twilight too , but I love Harry potter more in fact even putting twilight in the same level to Harry potter would be an insult , it would be like saying a fish in chips Is better than a five star restaurant.

I have read the twilight series and I enjoyed it but it began to get a bit boring in breaking dawn….
I have read the first hp and I loved it but unfortunately we didn’t have the second or third book at our house…so…. I started reading the fourth book and it is amazing I LOVE it already although I have only read 37 pages( so far , I plan to read the rest of it today/tommorrow ) But in those 37 pages it is a lot better than the whole twilight series!!
I like the twilight films but only the first and second.
I LOVE the Harry Potter films , the deathly hallows part 2 is EPIC! It was so good! At the end of the film I was crying like a baby.
P.S HP would beat Edward any day , all he has to say is AVADA KEDAVRA.

Helena- perfectly said, exactly the point I would make. Harry Potter is a series that has twists, turns and exciting characters which J. K. Rowling intertwined with pre-existing characters that are scattered throughout mythes and legends (Nicholas Flamel, The Gray Lady, a three headed guard dog, words like “VERUM” which means truth used as a part of Verateserum.
I am a Ravenclaw which means I am supposed to be cunning and have a ready mind, trust me…TWILIGHT SUCKS!
All plot is pathetic and has no richness. Stephanie Meyer is a horrid writer and there is nothing good about any of the cardboard cutout characters.
I LOVE HP, I wish it wasn’t over yet!!!!!
